At UNC, we stress the interdisciplinary nature of Biophysics.  For this reason, degrees earned in the Program in Molecular and Cellular Biophysics are awarded from participating degree granting units or departments.  Please indicate on this form the department with which you wish to affiliate.  We will communicate your interest to that (those) department(s)  and ask that appropriate departmental materials and application forms be forwarded to you.  You should indicate in your communications with that department that you wish to be considered for admission to the department and to the Program in Molecular and Cellular Biophysics.  After you have been admitted to the department, we can consider you for admission to the Biophysics Program.  The unique interdisciplinary character of UNC's Program in Molecular and Cellular Biophysics makes it possible for you to rotate through the laboratory of any Program faculty member and then to identify a faculty member from any department to sponsor your thesis project, independent of the department through which you receive a degree.
